Huey Hung Sponge Filters
Large surface area. Operated by an airline from your air pump. These filters are proving popular with Discus breeders
who demand the cleanest aquaria.
Airline fits inside stem. Easy to strip down for cleaning. Sponge sits above tank base & doesn't get clogged up with debris so more air for the bacteria
in the sponge to do their job. These are well thought out filters.
Stand alone design on many models with weighted base (no need for suckers on many models).
Many filters are capable of being fitted with a powerhead for increased flow.

We recommend the micro filters for fry tubs. Fry may be small but they excrete wastes. Fry get put into clean tubs with clean water. No bacteria to kick start the micro system so you lose the fry. These micro filters look good. Put the sponge in the base of the parents tank & allow it to get coated in nitrifying bacteria (or set the whole filter up in this tank). Put the filter back together & put in a fry tub. Don't clean the sponge out. A clinically clean sponge is no good to anyone.
I've bred thousands of killies over the years & used margarine tubs to raise fry. Now you can put a proper filter in these tubs!!

A small filter ideal for small containers or tanks of a couple of gallons capacity. The PW (Particulate Waste) range of filters consists of a series of chambers where you can put whatever media you like - wool, sponge, carbon, peat. They are driven by airline from an air pump. At the top of the filter the rising bubbles hit a fan which helps to drag more water through the filter - ingenius.

The Mini Filter

Ideal for fry tubs. Killie breeders will find these fit into margarine tubs. They measure only 50 mm in diameter & total height is 75 mm.
Easily strip down to clean sponge in seconds. The foam is very fine & stops fry getting sucked into the filter.
Base comes with gravel base to weigh it down but this can be changed to carbon, peat etc.
