Living Items

These items are not sent out in extreme cold conditions.

They are cute, easy to hatch, easy to feed, easy to breed for another generation.

Triops cancriformis Eggs.

This is an ancient life form which was around in the age of the dinosaurs. Their are various species of Triops still surviving. The one we have is Triops cancriformis.
This is one of the most ancient life forms still alive but it is under pressure in its natural biotopes.
All eggs are dropped in laboratory conditions by captive bred individuals.

Easy to maintain - I'm up to 4 generations from mine. Growth rate is incredible & they literally can double their size in 24 hours. Not a long lived species with 3-4 weeks being about average but they grow incredibly fast.
I'm a fishkeeper but once I had these hatched for the first time I was hooked.
They eat the Red Astax Crumb on this site readily. Also newly hatched brine shrimp, Daphnia, fairy shrimp or their brother/sisters. Keep them in a small tank with a silver sand base. Eggs are layed in the sand. They are typically annual & eggs rest in this dried out state for a long time. I wet after 2-3 months of dry storage but re-dry the sand & try another hatch in a couple of weeks.

£6·50 per pack in natural flood plain sand.

Live Foods

Microworm starter culture

Easy to maintain & breed. Just feed Ready Brek which has been sprinkled with water. You can use these to feed young fish. Most livebearers take these as a first food.

Vinegar Eel culture

Very small worm or eel which grows in vinegar. I use red wine or cider vinegar. They hang near the surface & feed off airborne bacteria - no need to feed them. Strain through a very fine material (handkerchief or the brine shrimp net in the net section of this site.
