Midland Charity Fish Auctions

Report

Sunday 4th December 2011
Lodge Park Social Club
Wirehill Drive, Lodge Park, Redditch, Worcestershire.

The auction raised £767·60 for the charities.

This was probably the biggest turnout so far for the charity auctions. I think in part this was due to the creation of the group on facebook which had about 70 - 80 members just before the do. More are still being added. This is definately something which will be maintained for future events.

This is a breakdown of the money raised - Door £174, Raffle £128, Cichlid hamper raffle £41·50, Donated fish £51·50, Auction of fish & other donations £362· 60

Whilst I counted a little over 100 people the door takings were slightly down by a few. It's difficult to police when you get busy.
Pete & Jack did a great job of organising the raffle. The prizes were good & amounted to foods & books etc. The BCA kindly donated a hamper of foods etc which they raffled off. This raised a nice little extra. Thank you BCA. Donated fish were not in big quantities but still raised a nice amount.

I would like to say that Richard Armstrong who sadly passed away earlier this year was missed. Richard attended most of the previous events with live foods. I was pleased to see Bert carrying on the live foods table.

36 breeders entered a total of 616 lots of fish.

Some not solds which will always be the case with so many lots. It would be great to see more buyers at future events but then we would need a bigger venue.

Special Thanks

Without help these auctions would not take place. They are extremely hard work & nobody gets paid for the work they do. Vic & Mark deserve some special thanks for filling in on the lot booking & money management table. This is hard work but they did the job extremely well with many of those putting fish in being paid out before the end of the auction.

Tim for looking after the door.

Dave & posse for filling up the viewing rack & bringing them up to the stage.

Pete & Jack for organising the raffle

The BCA for donating the hamper for a seperate raffle

Johnny Dean deserves special thanks for providing the PA system & microphones for our auctioneers.

Auctioneers. This is hard work & does take it out of you. Thanks to Trevor, Pete & Alan for sterling work.

The runners for tireless work walking up & down the room.
Plus all those who helped out behind the scenes in the build up.

The girls in the kitchen never sold so much food as this auction. I had a bacon bap for breakfast but forgot to stop for dinner. I think the food at the auction is excellent. Thanks girls. The bar staff were kept busy & the club did a roaring trade.

I would like to thank the Lodge Park Residents Association club for allowing us to use the room for free which helps us donate more money to charities.

+ late donations through Paypal - £10
