Sequestered Iron

Something we played around with. It is interesting to use on eggs as the high iron content reduces the pH dramatically & quickly kills off infertile or bad eggs before they become a fungus problem. Especially useful for killifish.
A water change is required as embryos get near to hatching to bring the pH back up.
Also useful in tanks as a plant nutrient when added in small amounts (remember that this will reduce pH).

Sodium bicarbonate - Bicarbonate of Soda

Used in the fish house to control acid pH build up. A pH crash can wipe out a tank really fast. This is a cheap & effective way to control it. Loads of other uses for this product.
Killie breeders using fresh peat in set ups will realise the pH can fall to 3·5. Fish & eggs do not fare well this acid.

We recommend taking a look at the Angelfish Association website under 'maps' & 'water boards' for information on which authorities are using Chloromine to disinfect the water supply system.
